The Chicago High School for the Arts is a college-preparatory, pre-professional arts training program which offers the following art disciplines: dance, music, theatre, and the visual arts. ChiArts is a Renaissance 2010 Contract School and Chicago’s first public arts high school.

ChiArts seeks to offer challenging courses in all subject areas that encourage intellectual curiosity and develop critical thinking skills. Students participate in a rigorous program, including five hours of academic classes and three hours of arts training in their major area per day. The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 5:00 p.m.

ChiArts is a citywide school that started with 150 9th-grade students in 2009. A new class will be added each year for a full enrollment of 600 students in 2012.
